As a part of the National Urban League Young Professionals’ National Day of Service, the Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League Young Professionals are proud to bring back our annual STEAM Conference on Saturday, April 13 at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center.

We are expecting to host 200 students for the conference and 80 volunteers are needed! Please fill out this link and you will be contacted by our STEAM Conference committee. All volunteers are required to go through a background check in order to ensure that our students are safe. who is eligible to participate in the steam conference?

We invite all 6th-12th grade students in North Texas to participate. Our team will extend a special invitation to select campuses in Fort Worth and the Southern Sector of Dallas. We anticipate hosting 200 students the day of the conference. Please note that registration will not be considered complete until all waiver forms are signed and submitted via the link in the registration form.

What can you expect?

This will be a free day of STEAM centered projects for grades 6-12th. Our goal is to engage and highlight our students in STEM/ STEAM areas and connect them with local organizations to further growth within the communities. Students will choose a session and explore STEAM fields.

Agenda

  • 8:30 - 9am Check in

  • 9am- 11am Parent Session

  • 10am -12pm Morning Session (Full and Mini Session 1)

  • 12pm-12:45pm Lunch with Your Future

  • 1pm- 3pm Afternoon Sessions (Full and Mini Session 2)

  • 3pm- 4pm Closing Showcase Party

Sessions include:

  • "Create to Play" : Students team up to create a video game to present during the Showcase Party

  • "Hack My App" : Students will create and a pitch an Application designed to improve their community

  • "Do We React?" : Students will explore chemical reactions

  • "Sounds Good to Me": Students will explore sound engineering and create music.

  • "Spray My Paint": Students will work with Local Artist Trey Wilder in creating art.

  • "Robot with Me" : Students will build and engage in robotics.
