Community Outreach Committee

Chair: Jared Fitzpatrick

The Community Outreach Committee develops and coordinates community service events on behalf of the organization and keep an accurate account and log of the community service hours worked by members of the organization. To sign up for this committee email: community.outreach@dfwulyp.org

Civic Engagement Committee

Chair: Sean Reed

The Civic Engagement Committee is responsible for encouraging the involvement of the organization in civic issues and activities relating to public policy, education, civil rights and leadership in the broader community, as well as establishing positions on various emerging public issues.  To sign up for this committee email: civic.engagement@dfwulyp.org

Economic Empowerment Committee

Chair: Ariel Taylor

The Economic Empowerment Committee is responsible for encouraging and educating the General Membership on strategies and effective practices for obtaining and maintaining economic stability, through programming that increases membership knowledge of increased financial acuity, wealth, and financial decisions. Social & Cultural Committee

Chair: Courtney Paige

The Social and Cultural Committee develops and coordinates networking opportunities and signature events geared towards retaining and attracting members. Events are also used as fundraisers for DFWULYP. The signature event of this committee is the annual "Urbane Escape White Party" which has raised $10,000+ dollars for the chapter. Health and Quality of Life Committee

Chair: Kala Garner

The Health and Quality of Life Committee shall be responsible for encouraging and educating the General Membership and community about physical, mental and spiritual health.  This committee provides educational resources, and activities conducive to the well-being of its members and the members of the community it serves. Leadership Development Committee

Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development committee is responsible for planning events and programs intended to enhance the profesesional development of the membership. The committee works with the National Urban League and outside professional resources to inform the membership on professional advancement opportunities. Fund Development Committee

Chair: Janae’ Willis-Beard

The Fund Development Committee Chairperson is responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities and strategic alliances to stimulate financial partnerships and support for the Greater Dallas League of Young Professionals.  The Fund Development collaborates with the President to organize and develop strategic fundraising goals and objectives for the organization. Membership Committee

Chair: Jevon Boxdell

The Membership Chairperson is responsible for attracting, engaging and retaining new members to the organization.  With the assistance of the Secretary and the Treasurer, the Membership Chairperson shall maintain the membership records, including accurate financial and communication records.  This Chairperson shall also host membership orientations to communicate the mission of the organization. Marketing/ Communications Committee

Chair: Courtney Cross-Johnson

The Marketing Committee is responsible for managing internal and external communications for the organization. This includes, but not limited to-design and distribution of newsletters, emails, social media engagement, photos, flyers and brochures. The Committee assists in managing the image of the organization and archiving events, photographs, awards, programs, etc. In addition, the committee is responsible for all promotional and marketing needs of the organization and branding the overall image of the organization in publications and media outlets.  To sign up for this committee email: marketing@dfwulyp.org

STEAM Conference Committee

Chair: JaShana Pitt

The STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) Committee is a newly formed Ad Hoc committee to help plan the STEAM Conference. This is a Signature event that is National Urban League aligned. Formerly under the community outreach committee, the STEAM Conference is tasked with bringing a day of student engagement of STEAM activities, career fields and connections to local organizations. The committee is made up of educators, engineers, chemist, and musicians. The Location of the conference will be at the Briscoe Carpentry Center on April 13, 2018. This year we would like to present a choice of workshop sessions with a student-led facilitation emphasis.
